Engenheiros do Hawaii was a Brazilian rock band formed in 1984 in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul. The band was founded by Humberto Gessinger (vocals, guitar and bass) and Carlos Maltz (drums), with the name being a play on the Brazilian translation of the phrase "engineers from Hawaii".
The band gained popularity in the late 1980s and 1990s with their unique blend of rock, pop, and blues music combined with thought-provoking lyrics. They released several successful albums, including "A Revolta dos Dândis" (1987), "O Papa É Pop" (1990), and "Gessinger, Licks & Maltz" (1993).
In 1994, Carlos Maltz left the band and was replaced by Gláucio Ayala. The band's lineup changed several times over the years, with Humberto Gessinger being the only constant member. In 2008, the band announced their disbandment, but Humberto Gessinger continued to perform as a solo artist.
Engenheiros do Hawaii is considered one of the most important and influential bands in Brazilian rock history, known for their intelligent lyrics, musical talent, and social commentary. They have inspired many other Brazilian artists and continue to have a loyal fan base.
